BÁRÛ MU - where personal style and tradition is fused with a modern edge. This collection offers a range of casual wear to custom pieces for any occasion. Each item is designed or refashioned with the intention to make you feel comfortable and confident. BÁRÛ means “clothing” in Kapampangan and in Ilocano, Indonesian and Malay, it means “new.” MU represents our personal connection to our motherland and in ancient script Kulitan or Baybayin, it symbolizes the womb, where we all come from. BÁRÛ MU represents this new cultural renaissance where we fashionably wear our culture.
Marybelle Bustos aka MB is the creative designer and stylist behind BÁRÛ MU. As a multidisciplinary artist and over 20 years of experience in fashion, MB intentionally designs and chooses unique pieces that have meaning, reflecting culture and individual style. She enjoys collaborating with creatives that have shared values of sustainability and indigeneity. Beyond clothing, she is also passionate about discovering common threads that connects us to our Austronesian roots and the role it plays in shaping our newfound identities.
